When to Pay Your Bill
It’s important to pay your Molina premium on time each month to keep your health coverage active.
Your payment is due by the date listed on your monthly invoice. Print your invoice from your online account to see your due date.
If paying after the due date, your account may become past due. This could disrupt your coverage. Avoid issues by paying on time every month.
I recommend setting a monthly reminder on your calendar to pay your Molina bill. You can also set up autopay from your checking account to pay automatically.
How Much to Pay
Your monthly premium invoice shows your exact amount due for that month’s coverage. Be sure to pay the full invoiced amount to avoid an underpayment.
Log into your Molina account and click on “Make a Payment” to see your current balance due. This changes monthly.
Only pay the invoiced amount. Do not pay ahead or overpay because that could delay processing. Stick to your monthly invoice amount.
If your financial or coverage situation changes, your premium costs may also change. Check invoices monthly to pay the correct new amount.
Payment Receipts
After paying your Molina bill online, by phone, or at a Payment Center, you’ll receive a payment confirmation receipt.
-
Online payments – Your confirmation displays on screen after paying and emails to your address on file
-
Phone payments – Receive a payment confirmation number to write down
-
In-person payments – Get a printed receipt at the Payment Center
-
Mailed payments – Keep your canceled check or money order stub as a receipt
Always keep or save payment confirmations and receipts as proof of payment in case any issues arise later.
Avoid Late Fees
Molina charges late fees if you do not pay your entire premium amount by the due date. The late fee is usually around $10 to $50.
Late fees also increase the longer your account stays past due. Pay as soon as possible after missing your due date to minimize late fees.
Setting up autopay through your bank account is a good way to avoid late fees. Autopay settings automatically pay your monthly premium on the due date.
Coverage Cancellation
If your account stays past due for an extended time, Molina may terminate your health coverage for nonpayment.
This leaves you uninsured. Plus, it can create issues when trying to enroll again during the annual open enrollment period.
Avoid cancellation by paying your entire outstanding balance as soon as possible. Or contact Member Services to discuss payment plan options.
Payment Assistance Programs
If you’re struggling to pay your monthly health insurance premiums, Molina offers programs to help. These include:
-
Payment arrangements – Set up a customized repayment plan for outstanding balances
